Minutes:

Pat welcomed everyone and introduced new members: Cathy Paisley from the Faculty Association, Scott Murie and Dean Perkins from Distance Education. Keith Peck is now the IST-CS Liasion to Office for Persons with Disabilities.
Desktop Computer Rollover Project Update (Andrea Chappell)
- The ordering process details are still being worked out so that systems ordered for the rollover departments, and other systems for other departments, can be properly ordered and tracked at UW and Dell

Laptops are currently being reviewed by the desktop computer rollover project team. A viewing time for depts will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
Personal orders: Steve Cook is working towards a University of Waterloo employee discount of 5% to be applied to any Dell's best price offering that is listed across Canada

Desktop Computer Rollout Deployment Update (Bob Hicks)
- We are short on ip addresses for our subnets; therefore, when a machine is decommissioned, the ip address must be removed, in order for it to be recycled. Please submit a request@ist to let IST know these machines have been decommissioned so we can use the ip addresses.
- The new Dell monitors cannot be separated from their hard drives. For warranty reasons the computer needs to be used as a complete bundle and not separated.
- Please help update our records by responding to Bob's email when he asks you for the processor speed of your current workstations
- The Rollover Deployment objective is to replace all machines under 1.5Ghz by Christmas 2005
Bits and Bytes of Information (Pat Lafranier)
- Dreamweaver version 8 has been released but not yet available for sale in the CHIP. Next SEW course brochure (Nov-Dec) will have an overview of Dreamweaver 8 seminar. Dreamweaver 8 courses will be taught in 2006.
- UW Webops Common Look and Feel is working towards getting all departments converted to the new "clf". Great results so far. Thanks to you and your staff, including co-op students, who worked on these websites.
- JAM upgrade happened over the weekend, which should speed up network drive access for campus users
- Eudora: a reminder to keep your IN, OUT and TRASH mailboxes to 100 or less emails to avoid problems
- WatITis 2005 has been announced and they are currently accepting presentation papers
- Question: Peter Carette (Theatre) has the roaming profile problem been fixed?
- Answer: Paul Henderson (IST): hardware and software upgrades should have addressed this issue
- Question: Cathy Cooper (ODAA): Users are experiencing error messages when they log off
- Answer: This item currently has a request ticket assigned and under investigation

- Question: Koorus Bookan (LT3): Concern about the wireless network in the Dana Porter Library during the first two weeks of the term dropping their network connection.
