Purchase Matlab / Comsol Multiphysics / ArcGIS

To enter IST's Scientific Computing Webstore, please go to: https://strobe.uwaterloo.ca/ist/saw/webstore/. You will need to log in with your UWdir ID and password. On this site you can purchase new licenses and obtain license files for Matlab or Comsol Multiphysics. After purchasing an ArcGIS license, you will need to set your license server to watserv1.uwaterloo.ca (no license file is required). Please contact us if you require any assistance.

Troubleshooting Information

We provide information on some of the common error messages you may receive when running software that uses a license server.

Renaming a User Account

Note that your user name must match your UW user ID in order to use software sold through this site. You can rename your account by following these instructions.

Please note that current licenses do not expire until April 30, 2008.

Important Notes:
  1. You will receive an error when starting Matlab, Comsol, or ArcGIS if you have not paid your research license fee for the current year. More information.
  2. When you purchase a license, it will not take effect until the next time the License Servers are restarted: 11:15am, 1:15pm, and 3:15pm.
  3. The userid you use on your computer(s) must be the same as your UWuserid. Instructions.
  4. Licenses are for Jan 1 to Dec 31 of the year they were purchased.
  5. There is a grace period until April 30 of each year for you to renew.
  6. When you renew your annual license, you typically do not have to download new license files.
