Notice to Matlab And Comsol Multiphysics Users

The site licenses for Matlab and Comsol offer considerable value to you by providing concurrent access to the most recent versions and additional toolboxes/add-ons for a small yearly fee per user. By contrast, for example, a stand-alone copy of Matlab would cost you $500 US plus the cost of toolboxes ($200 US each). IST is able to provide this valuable site license as a service to you because you contribute to the yearly maintenance costs of the licenses.

The fee structure for these applications is based on use in the current calendar year. A grace period from the beginning of a year until the end of the fiscal year (April 30) is available to anyone who has paid in the previous calendar year.

Our license servers check against UWdir for official UW User IDs. It is necessary, therefore, that you log in to your computer with your UW User ID.

You can check what licenses you have paid for by visiting http://ist.uwaterloo.ca/ew/saw/webstore, and choosing item 5 Check Licenses.

If you have not paid for the current year, you will need to do so by visiting http://ist.uwaterloo.ca/ew/saw/webstore, and choosing item 2 Purchase/Renew License.

Support for installation, configuration and use of Matlab is provided by William Lewis and Stephen Carr in IST and can be accessed by email, phone, or through the Scientific Computing support queue by emailing rt-IST-CSmathsci@ist.uwaterloo.ca.
