An office suite is a set of programs consisting of a word processor, a spreadsheet program, a presentations package, and possibly a database package. Because Microsoft Word and Excel have become de facto standards for documents and spreadsheets, it is important that whatever suite you choose should have the ability to read and save doc and xls files.
Microsoft Office 2007 has been deployed across campus.
Office 2010 is now available via the Microsoft campus agreement. Before deploying, IST is testing Office 2010 with the UW corporate applications.
Courses dealing with Microsoft Office products are regularly taught by IST as part of the Skills for the Electronic Workplace (SEW) program and the Skills for the Academic electronic Workplace (SAW) program.

WordPerfect Office Suite 12 is available to faculty and staff from the CHIP.
Sun's Star Office is available at no charge to UW faculty, staff and students.
