Changes in the Licensing of ESRI ArcGIS

Users of ESRI's ArcGIS software have the option of purchasing a 1 year license from the CHIP or using a software license manager. The license manager option has be supported by the Faulty of Environmental Studies.

As of December 2007, the license manager in Environmental Studies will only support machines connecting from the Environmental Studies subnets.

Machines connecting from other subnets on campus will need to use the IST license manager running on the machine watserv1.uwaterloo.ca (see details on reconfiguring your license manager).

The license manager on watserv1.uwaterloo.ca will accept all connections during the month of January. This will provide users with an opportunity to purchase a license agreement through IST's Webstore. There will be a yearly fee of $200.00 per copy (per machine) and the license period will run from January 1 to December 31 2008.
