Chris Redmond, the director of internal communications at the University of Waterloo, will be retiring this winter after 38 years editing the print Gazette and the online
Daily Bulletin. He will talk about some of the people he has worked with, the continual changes in the university and its official communications, and technological
progress including Igor the stand-alone typesetting machine, Volker-Craig terminals, the amazing arrival of Gopher, changing expectations of the Web, and why he's been on
the wrong side of every technological argument since the day he got here.
