Getting help

The CHIP provides help and services to the campus community.

Faculty helpdesks assist with computing needs specific to their area.

DC Library IT helpdesk - evenings and weekends.

Reporting problems or requesting services. This includes, for example, reporting problems with the campus network, IST supported computer systems or requesting services such as the installation of a telephone.

Training

Our training programs are designed to suit the needs of specific groups on campus:

Web-based training

IST has subscribed to Lynda.com, a web-based software training company.

  • just-in-time training
  • over 700 courses to choose from
  • training is available 24/7
Call ext. 33456 or email a request (request@uwaterloo.ca) for an account, which you can use for one week. This account is available to uWaterloo faculty, staff and students.

Microsoft's e-learning training

uWaterloo faculty and staff can access Microsoft applications and system training with the following requirements:

  • provide an existing Windows Live account, or create a new account when stepping through the process
  • provide your uWaterloo email address
  • use the recommended browser - Internet Explorer (IE)
  • provide an activation code for each e-learning category (authenticate with your WatIAM credentials).
