Mandate

ITMS is responsible for supporting people in their use of central teaching and learning facilities. Its mandate is to maintain and evolve those facilities, and to offer technical assistance and related services, in order to help enhance course content and delivery, in the classroom and online. In this provisioning and support role, ITMS collaborates with related areas such as the Centre for Extended Learning (CEL), the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and the Library. As workloads permit, ITMS supports the non-academic areas of the university by covering special events and producing content about the University of Waterloo for use in various media venues.

Areas of Responsibility

Current Projects

Projects in ITMS include those that are part of the IST Annual Plan and others that are smaller in scope.

A Bit of History

As of May 2006 the Audio Visual department became a part of ITMS. This merge recognizes the convergence of video, audio and data technologies involving both AV and IST, and the technologies and services that already form common support areas (online learning, e-classrooms) and clients (Faculties, CEL, CTE, Library, etc.). Together, the expertise and responsibilities of the combined personnel provide well rounded instructional technology support.
