BlackBerry 2007 Daylight Saving Time Patch

More details on the BlackBerry 2007 Daylight Saving Time patch can be obtained on the RIM website at: http://www.blackberry.com/dst2007. The steps below have been used to update existing devices successfully at the University of Waterloo. The steps are as follows:

  1. Before you begin (some preliminaries)
  2. Browse to the update site (on your BlackBerry)
  3. Start the download
  4. Complete the installation (including resetting the BlackBerry)
  5. Confirm the patch installation

Before you begin:

Please verify that the following conditions exist:

  1. Verify that you have a supported OS version on your BlackBerry Device.

To determine the OS version of your device, click on the Options icon on the home/main screen of the BlackBerry. On the Options menu, click the "About" item and confirm that the version number displayed near the top is listed on RIM's patch manifold page (under the Application Version column);

  1. Make sure you have a complete backup of your device (using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager);
  2. If you are running the Nexthaus SyncJe client and have configured it to "Auto Sync" at a specified time interval, you should turn off the "Auto Sync" option until after the update is done.
Browse to the update site

Using the Internet Browser on your BlackBerry, go to the URL:

http://www.blackberry.com/dst2007

 
Start the download

Read the web page and note that this process may take up to 20 minutes to complete (below). If you don't have time now, don't start this process.

 
 

Using the trackwheel/trackball, navigate to the "Download" button and click the wheel/button.

 
 

Select "Get Link" from the subsequent pop-up menu (below):

 
 

A page will be displayed, prompting you to confirm the download (below):

Click on the "Download" button (above) to start the Download (below):

 
 

 

After the download has completed, you will see a message stating that "The application was successfully installed." Click "OK" to dismiss this message.

 
Complete the installation:

Reset the device if prompted to do so and then proceed to Confirm patch installation (below)

If you were not prompted to reset the device, select the "Options" icon from the BlackBerry main/home screen. The Options screen will now have "2007 DST Patch" at the top. Select and click on the "2007 DST Patch" with the trackwheel/trackball.

 

You may see a message indicating that the patch is installed but a reset is required to complete the installation (below).

 
Reset the device if necessary:

Click with the trackwheel/trackball and select "Reset Device" from the pop-up menu (below).

Confirm patch installation

After the device resets, go to the Options menu from the BlackBerry main/home screen and select the "2007 DST Patch".

 

Click with the trackwheel/trackball to confirm that the patch is applied (below).
