Each digital certificate has a unique signature -- often called a fingerprint (e.g., by Firefox) or a thumbprint (e.g., by MS/IE). To verify that you've loaded the Certificate for the UW/IST Certificate Authority you'll need to find the certificate within your browser's store of certificates and then check the signature.
These instructions are for the cautious who are concerned about that small possiblity. If you are concerned then you should check the fingerprint. If you need help in finding the certificate in your browser then follow the instructions for Netscape/Navigator and/or Microsoft/Internet Explorer as appropriate for the browser you're using.
If you are very cautious you ought to determine the correct fingerprint by other methods -- there's a small (but real) possiblity that this Web page might be a forgery! If you mail to the UW/IST CA they will be happy to confirm that the fingerprint here is correct.
