Web Portal Investigation Project

A portal investigation project was struck in order to gain knowledge of specific areas of a portal technology (uPortal) and to better determine potential use and the support efforts.

The final report outlines the accomplishments, the obstacles, and the generalized solutions found in execution of the investigation.

A meeting was called for 10 July 2002, inviting members of the Nebula portal investigation group, UCIST, CNAG, CSAG, and others. Andrea Chappell and Andrew Ward presented information about this project, and Erick Engelke presented information about the Nebula efforts (http://www.nexus.uwaterloo.ca/nebula/). It was decided that the next step would be to provide a uPortal/CAS "sandbox" where people could experiment with those systems. A charter would be struck to outline the work for that project.
